IVF ABROAD

Cross-border reproductive care, or CBRC, is the provision of fertility services to patients who travel outside their home country for treatment. It is also known as “reproductive tourism” or “infertility treatment abroad.”.

Due to the obvious combination of high-quality and innovative services at reasonable prices, Greece is quickly becoming a competitive destination for in vitro fertilization (IVF)

Key facts to consider for IVF in Greece

  • The donation of eggs and sperm is mutually anonymous, both for those who donate them and for those who receive the donation.
  • Age limits: The 54th year of age for the woman on the day of the embryo transfer. There is no age limit for men.
  •  IVF treatment for single women and lesbian couples is allowed.
  •  Surrogacy is a legal process from the moment of publication of the court decision that allows a woman or a couple to conceive through a surrogate mother.

IVF LEGISLATION IN GREECE

One of the main reasons that couples choose Greece as a destination is the country’s liberal IVF legislation. It allows for anonymous and voluntary egg donation, the transfer of multiple embryos (depending on the age of the woman carrying the pregnancy), embryo, egg, and sperm freezing, prenatal checks, and surrogacy.

Women up to the age of 54 are allowed to become mothers in Greece, sperm donors can remain anonymous, egg donations are permitted, and single women can seek a sperm donor, all of which have contributed to the evolution of IVF-related medical tourism.
