What is IVF

Some 200,000 babies are thought to be delivered every year in Europe using procedures such as IVF. As population growth rates decline across the wealthier swathes of the world, with more people starting families later in life, if at all, assisted reproduction has been hailed as a technological solution to a socio-economic conundrum.

In vitro fertilisation (IVF) is where an egg is combined with sperm in vitro (“in glass”). The process involves monitoring and stimulating a person’s ovulatory process, removing an ovum or ova (egg or eggs) from their ovaries, and letting sperm fertilise them in a culture medium in a laboratory. After the fertilised egg (zygote) undergoes embryo culture for 2–6 days, it is implanted in the same or another person’s uterus, to establish a successful pregnancy.

IVF or Intra-Vaginal Fertilization is a method of producing new life carried out by stimulating the ovaries to produce several eggs. When a fertilized egg meets the uterus and the fallopian tube, pregnancy is likely to happen. While this may sound simple, IVF can be a complicated process with plenty of physical, emotional, and financial challenges.

The Benefits of IVF

IVF is a reliable method of creating and sustaining a successful pregnancy. One of the main advantages is that the embryo will be given the best chance possible to implant in the uterus. IVF also gives you the possibility to conceive while you are young, making you an excellent candidate for pregnancy.

Although women of all ages can become pregnant with a good probability, the chances of having a healthy baby increase with age. A successful IVF process not only confers financial benefits but also the valuable opportunity to experience the many emotions that accompany a positive pregnancy. IVF treatment is the ultimate combination of scientific and natural methods.

How to choose the best IVF clinic

Choosing an IVF clinic is not an easy thing. Choosing the “best” IVF clinic is even more difficult. There are quite a lot of factors that make it hard to decide. Those are summarized as follows:

  • Are personnel well educated and well trained for IVF? Well-trained staff plays a key role in choosing the best clinic.
  • What is the overall success rate for the IVF clinic I am looking for? The success rate is essential to make your decision.
  • What is the overall cost? The overall cost is a major factor, so you should also consider travel costs.
  • Does the IVF offer a refund programme? A circumstantial refund programme and installments are good motives to consider for the best decision.
  • What is the maximum patient age especially for women? Age is a key point for choosing the best IVF clinic.
  • Does the lab perform cryopreservation of embryos? What about eggs and sperm? Where are the embryos, eggs, or sperm stored? You should consider the certain processes and procedures an IVF follows.
  • What about donors’ anonymity? In the UK, for example, donors’ anonymity is required by law.
  • Are the staff pleasant? You’ll likely be working with the clinic for months. Do they answer your questions? Are they courteous and helpful over email? Or do you feel like they are rushing you along?
